Additional verses are sung by omitting the first letter sung in the previous verse and clapping instead of actually saying the word. It has a Roud Folk Song Index number of 589. The Early Published Version was Recorded In 1785 Without A Title “The Humming Bird” Song Book, This is How Most People Know As the traditional children’s song. Bingo Nursery Rhyme’s presence Firstly Noted In the United States by Robert M. Charlton in 1842. Later, the song was recorded with eight versions in England, by the folklorist Alice Bertha.
